The Eighth engineering mathematics test was held in the College of Engineering II on Nov 5 with about 70 students of the College of Engineering and the College of Architecture. The event has been held since 2001 and the purpose of this annual event is to improve students' mathematics calculation skill and to inspire students' pride in studying at the College of Engineering in Hanyang University.

All of the applicants are to solve a set of mathematical problems within the given time limit. The problems are based on what they have learned so far during their engineering course.

The test took place as a part of the fall festival called Gong-Nol-I which is an academic festival of Hanyang University's both College of Engineering and Architecture.

The student with the highest score will receive commendation medal and scholarship under 700,000 won. There had been 32 students in total who won the prize so far. The awarding was held on Nov. 18 at the dean's office of the College of Engineering and Jang Jae-young, student of Department of Physics won the first prize.

Yet, there had been no foreign transfer students who signed up for the test. Kim Sang Jeom, a staff member of the College of Engineering, who was in charge of the event, said, "Even though the number of applicants is increasing every year, we are strongly encouraging and looking forward to any foreign students' participation."
