On Jan 28th, two out of 28 Hanyang University (HYU) enterprise teams that had participated in the Brain Korea 21 (BK 21), dropped off the mid-evaluation done by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Korea Research Foundation. HYU’s teams from the fields of Physics and Medicine respectively, failed because they showed low-quality results to keep gaining support.
The Korea Research Foundation said, “This evaluation was to determine whether to keep supporting certain teams or to give the opportunity to other enterprise teams.” BK 21 is a knowledge-nurturing plan supported by the Ministry of Education to create international competence of Korean graduate and undergraduate schools. This plan is the second program that has been instituted from 2006 to 2012 following the first program from 1999 to 2005.
