From 2009, Hanyang University is allowing four times of temporary absence. Originally, the law had allowed only three occasions of temporary absence, excluding temporary absences for military reasons. However, the preexisting law of temporary absence has changed. Now, the temporary absence can be continued for as long as two semesters and can be extended up to a maximum of three years in total.
  This revision is to allow students to use this law more freely and effectively. Lim Ji-eun, the student of English Language and Literature said, “I am planning to go abroad to study. I am so glad that I have more chances to have temporary absence. During that time, I can experience various things out of the school.” This law will come into effect from the first semester of 2009.
