The Hanyang University(HYU) Museum is hosting a special exhibition titled “Koreans and Seals”. This exhibition opened on May 19 and will remain on display until September 30. Looking back on the last 40 years of Korean seal engraving history, Hanyangians can view nearly 500 different modern and present day seals. Sponsored by three of Korea’s most prominent seal engraving organizations: the Korea Seal Association, Korea Study of Seal Engraving Research Society, and the Korea Seal Engraving Academic Society along with Seongdonggu Office, the current seal exhibition is the first of its kind ever tried out in Korea.

The exhibition is comprised of four sections of display: the Seals of Old, Seals of the Present, Beauty of the Heart, Korea’s Modern Seal Engravers, and Present Transformation and Use of Seals. These four different sections take visitors on a journey through the history and culture of seal engraving in Korea as well as educate them on how they are used and what forms they come in in present times. The seals will be showcased according to their themes and their uses.
