On November 7, four alumni of the Department of Theater and Cinema with Professor Choi, Hyeong-in participated in an agreement ceremony for the Naerisarang Scholarship in the New Main Building of Hanyang University. The four alumni are famous actors and entertainers in Korea, namely Park, Mi-sun, Hong, Seok-cheonn, Sol, Kyung-gu, and Jung, Il-woo. They all agreed to establish a fund by raising KRW10,000,000  a year for five years. This scholarship will be given to students of the Department of Theater and Cinema who are experiencing personal family difficulties and/or hardships. It is expected that more alumni of the Department of Theater and Cinema who are currently working as entertainers will join in to help increase the scholarship budget.

Professor Choi said that she hopes the custom of senior classmates helping junior classmates will be encouraged as a result of the agreement ceremony.  During the event, each of the four alumni gave a speech. Sol, Kyeong-gu said, “A university is not a place where students just get answers, but where they find meaningful questions. I hope this scholarship helps every one of its recipients to succeed in discovering their own questions to succeed in society.”

The names of the each scholarship were created by attaching the names of the entaintainers. Jo, Hyun-sik, a sophomore in the Department of Theater and Cinema said, “I was surprised that the alumni were so interested in university students. I was impressed and I hope one day I can be a person who will donate scholarships to my school, and have it named after me, like them.”
