The Office of Academic Affairs of Hanyang University (HYU) is holding a competition for the students to suggest names for its newly establishing college consisting of two departments: Courses for Nurturing Elites in Humanities and Sociology, and in Science and Engineering.

With the establishment of the Law School and the Medical School, from the academic year of 2009, HYU is abolishing the College of Law and also reducing the number of students in the College of Medicine.

In their place, a new college will be established. The new college, with admission number of 100 to 150 students, plans to provide the best course for nurturing the elites using leadership development programs. Students will get a collective course in Arts, Social Studies and Pure Science.

HYU will support scholarships to all freshmen, on condition they all maintain a certain level of credit, and also put them at preference during dormitory allocation and provide group tutoring.

The provisional names suggested at present are College of Policy Sciences, Department of Public Policy and Department of Biomedical Science and Technology.

Keeping in consideration the above information, students can suggest new names for the new college and its two new departments bye - mail (faculty@hanyang.ac.kr). Explanation of the meanings for the names given and student? contact information should also be included. The entries must be made by Han-gul Program, in A4 size and there is no particular style format.

The suggestions should be sent by no later than May 22. There will be prizes for the best entries, which will be announced on June 20. The prize for the best entry is a mp3 worth over 250,000 Won, and the second best entry will be awarded a gift voucher worth 100,000 Won.
