“And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young. It’s hunting season and the lambs are on the run searching for meaning but are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark? Who are we? Just a speck of dust within the galaxy? Woe is me if we’re not careful turns into reality. But donʼt you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow. Yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer. Turn the page, maybe weʼll find a brand new ending where weʼre dancing in our tears.”

This is the part of song called ‘lost stars’ which was one of the original sound tracks of the movie Begin Again directed by John Carney. With the popularity of the movie, the song also became famous for the lyrics implying the struggle that the young people are meant to go through. At this point in time, however, it is important to remember that the situation where all the current hardship is imposed on the youth should not be considered as a natural phase.

It is wrong to think that younger people should always put up with the difficulties as they are less painful compared to those of the past. There are some who lack logic that try to belittle our stance by saying that what the current university students are undergoing is insignificant. Sadly the conflict will not be easily settled. Thus we have to take a deep breath and stand up for what is right.
