The College of Economics and Finance of Hanyang University (HYU) at Seoul campus, hosted the ninth international meeting of the Association for Public Economic Theory-PET 2008 Seoul, for three days from July 27 to 29, 2008. The event was organized under the leadership of professor Chun Young-sub of Seoul National University and Professor Na Seong-lin of HYU.  

  The Association for Public Economic Theory is dedicated to advancing research in the field of Public Finance and to bring about active interaction among economists. The three days of the meeting witnessed participation of reputed professors and economists. The keynote speakers were professor Helmuth Cremer of University Toulouse I, professor Cuong Le Van of University of Paris 1 and professor James Mirrlees of Cambridge University. professor Mirrlees is the recipient of 1996 Nobel Economics Prize.

  The conference provided opportunity for both HYU and the College of Economics and Finance to step up its position in the international eye. "Through organizing the most prestigious international conference in the field of Public Economy, the College of Economics and finance of HYU stepped closer to making its presence known globally and gain higher standing." said Professor Na. "With recent remodeling of the College of Commerce & Economics- Business & Economics Building of HYU, high-end equipments were introduced. Utilizing them, the meeting was also a stage to show technical advance of hardware facilities in Korean universities."
