Recently, a new Career Café with an open lounge, and creative working space were built on the first floor of the HIT building. During this summer vacation, the construction was done due to the Global Entrepreneur Center and the Career Development Center being moved from the fifth floor to the first floor of the HIT building.
According to Lee Seung-hwa, the Manager of the Hanyang Instititue for Talent Development and Career Development Center, the related institutions were in Hanyang Plaza in 2014. However, because of its low accessibility, Lee Young-moo, the President of Hanyang University (HYU), arranged this construction in order to give easily accessible help to students who need help starting their own business.
The Career Café, named ‘Yang Minyong Lounge’, located near the Global Entrepreneur Center and the Career Development Center, consists of eight consulting rooms and ten recruiting booths where HYU students can receive counseling regarding company recruitment. “Moreover, the open type lounge functions for those who want to study or observe others’ counseling so that they can refer to it when they need help in the future,” added Manager Lee.
Furthermore, a creative working space which will be placed in front of the HIT building, where students can implement their creative ideas by using a 3D printer. It is named ‘Hicon’ by the student majoring in the Interior Architecture Design of HYU through the naming contest.
Manager Lee anticipated that the construction of a Career Café would help more students prepare for a startup. “I know that even though they dream of starting a business, many HYU students hesitate to seek help because they feel pressured. We believe the Career Café will allow students to get help conveniently and intimately,” said Manager Lee. HYU students will be able to use these newly built facilities within this fall semester.
