The application service called “Hang-ga-rae” has concluded an agreement between Hanyang Universtiy (HYU) and SK C&C on October 5. SK C&C shares functional tips and major programs of the social value activities by supporting the introduction of its service application to the campus. According to the agreement, the app is specifically designed for students and faculties in HYU, focusing on events planned within college life to encourage individuals’ movement on realizing the importance of steady practices for the Social Value (SV).

Hang-ga-rae began with the suggestion of experiencing real-life social challenges in easier and interesting ways. Therefore, it allows participants to practice small trials for society and to earn points via the application. Moreover, thanks to its “non-face-to-face” digital service feature, participants are able to sustain daily social innovation even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. To be specific, they include small actions in real campus life: using stairs instead of elevators, reutilizing scrap papers, carrying tumblers, and others, in order to reduce overall carbon emissions and bring social changes.

Then, Hang-ga-rae calculates your actions, converts them into points, and awards you special badges for the accumulated experiences, which are called Social Value Point (SVP). In addition to this, those points can be used as game money so that you can purchase products or even donate, which is called Social Value Coin (SVC). For various activities throughout the campus, the Social Innovation Center is continuously organizing more informative manuals and expanding the places where you can earn SVP.

This digital platform is incredibly meaningful and motivating for the campus to impact each other and to share the theme of social values. In order to enhance its impact, HYU Social Innovation Center has created a special council with student groups, with people in charge of this operation to reflect those ideas and is always welcoming any suggestions. It is your turn to push yourself forward and start making a change through this application.
