“Now, it is a time to solve the eagerness all feels of traveling around the world,” said Kim Seo-hye, a Curator of the Hanyang University (HYU) Museum. The HYU Museum has held a cultural lecture program every semester. The eighth Hanyang Museum Academy held this year is called, “Travel, Are you ready?” The academy deals with the theme of traveling and the program will be held from April 21 to June 23.

Various and different travel stories of music, art, and history will be discussed by many travel experts who represent each academic field, including cultural anthropologists, journalists, and travel writers. The academy especially focuses on the theme from the perspective of humanities.

Nine different themed lectures will be held during the program, and the lecture will be delivered both online and offline. The lecture is open to everyone who wants to participate with a 10,000 won fee. However, the members of HYU can participate for free.

“Because of the pandemic, many people around the world were not allowed to go on a trip and now it is a time for us to refresh our minds and get ready to travel again. The academy will help a lot to enjoy and learn about many different stories regarding travel,” said Kim.

Kim especially recommended the seventh lecture among the rest, which will be held on June 9. The title is “The highlight of a trip is food.” The lecture will be discussed by Jun Ji-young, a Food Service Management Professor at Sejong University. “Food is an essential part of travel. Both the students and the faculty members can enjoy and learn about many different food stories around the world,” said Kim.

Other than this, many other lectures will be held during the project. For people who want to participate in the program, it is recommended to visit the website of the HYU Museum and apply for the program.
