For me, the major advantage of going to school offline is the interaction between people. As an exchange student, I do not know many people in Korea. Therefore, it was far easier for me to get in contact with my university friends and other Korean students in the same major after meeting them offline. I also like asking questions to the professors. I enjoy being on campus and interacting with people through social gatherings, school clubs, or simply eating with friends at The Hanyang Plaza. These are not related to the school lessons, but they are the things you can experience from the university culture itself, and students can benefit from it as well. The bad part of offline school is the low efficiency. I do better when I can read and focus on the lectures alone. However, because of the attendance policies, I have to attend the lessons and spend time listening to the professor talk repeatedly about one topic.

The good things are being able to socialize with people and having that sense of community around the university. I also enjoy being able to live life on campus, which is something that I did not have in my Italian university. It is also great to have a routine - getting out of the house, coming to lessons, and actually focusing. When we had online classes, it was very difficult to focus because I could lay down in bed or on the couch with my dogs. Going to school on campus allows me to feel more involved with what we are learning and everything around it. The bad part is the compulsory attendance, having to be in class a certain number of times and also, time management. While it is good to have a routine, you have to organize yourself and make sure that you are able to go to class. Other than that, I do not really see many bad things, and I am really happy to attend offline classes.

Compared to online classes, I feel that I can concentrate better in offline classes. Listening to the professors in person helps me remember what I have learned. I also enjoy spending time with friends on campus. Because of COVID-19, I could not meet friends very often in high school, so I don’t have many memories with them. Although it has only been one month since the school year has started, I am happy to have made many memories with my friends on campus. The bad part is having to spend most of my time on the road to get to school. It takes two hours to come to school, and it is very difficult to do this every day, especially when I have classes in the morning.

The good part is that I can communicate directly with professors and meet friends on campus. I enjoy eating dinner with friends like this when we have time before class starts. I think the worst part about offline school is the strict preventive measures for the pandemic. It is uncomfortable to wear a mask for the entire day and the plastic screens attached to the desks make it difficult to see the board or hear what others are saying. It is also difficult to travel to school every day because I live about one hour away.
