Celebrating the 83rd anniversary of Hanyang University (HYU), the HYU Museum is holding a special exhibition: Extension of Sensation, the Electronic Age. You can enjoy HYU’s important scientific and technological heritage by taking in the achievements of Dr. Rhee Man-young, the first American engineering doctor. In addition, it introduces the collections from numerous donors, such as Rhee Jung-geun, an electromagnetic wave researcher, Lee Jung-sung, an electronic art director, and Choi Dal-ryong, a patent attorney. This exhibition is not just for your eyes. In the first part, you can use black and-white TVs and various devices used in the past. In the second part, you can experience games using augmented reality along with coin karaoke rooms installed during the exhibition period. If you collect the stickers provided at the activity site, you can receive unique souvenirs of the HYU Museum. In addition, in June, a talk concert related to the exhibition, “Electronic Age, Meet Living Legend,” was held. The program was for discussing the development of the electronic era in Korea with three donors. For students who are sad to have missed this opportunity, we strongly recommend you to visit the third floor of HYU Museum immediately. Reading the pamphlet detailing their lives, you can feel as if you have been through the development of the electronic era along with them.Kim Yoon-ji, a curator in charge of the exhibition, expressed that this exhibition shows the past, present, and future of HYU’s 83-year electronic engineering education. Let’s feel how electronic devices that have become a part of our lives will connect to our senses.
