There is a saying: “The Death of an Author.” The meaning of this sentence can be and should be explained as deep as the waters of the sea but in short, it refers to when the author’s pro- duction shows its face to the world and the world eventually becomes the author of the pro- duction. We are the ones who perceive and interpret the work once it has been shown to us.
In this sense, Maurizio Cattelan shows us the best examples that make us the author. Cheeky but profound would be the suitable adjectives to describe his artworks.
In the Leeum Museum of Art, Maurizio Cattelan, the famous modern artist from Italy is exhibiting his artworks for free. Along with the famous “Comedian,” a work of banana taped on the wall, “Untitled,” “We,” and “Him” are exhibited at the Leeum Museum of Art and of course, there are a lot more.
The exhibition consists of three floors in total, so do not simply glimpse; explore, feel, think, inter- pret, and become the author of the works. However, try not to eat the banana on the wall. Otherwise, you might become the “comedian.”
