I am working as a secretary assistant as my part-time job at the moment. Since I always wished to improve my computer skills for practical business tasks, the work I do is quite helpful. My computer skills have improved greatly. It is very useful to practice my computer utilization. I want to say that if you feel like you are lacking in some skills that you wish to improve, try to carry out and start with the small tasks just as I am doing! I am going back to my home country pretty soon, so I will not have a chance to read this column in print, but I hope to find another interesting part-time job recommended by HYU students in the near future. Thank you!

My most memorable part-time job is actually what I am doing right now. I am currently working as a non-profit organization’s part-time intern. What I and ‘We,’ the organization, do is basically supporting families and providing child health care expansion in my home country, the United States of America. The public health care program will be recruiting many high school students from around North Carolina. North Carolina is my home state as well. We are especially focusing on mental health expansions. I think mental health is one of the most important factors for us to live a happy life, and this makes my job more meaningful.

My most memorable part-time job was my experience of working as a student worker at the alumni association of HYU. What I did there was basically making a database about our school’s alumni. I made tons of phone calls to the alumni and asked them about their basic information. I asked about their current jobs, addresses, and other phone numbers. I enjoyed this job very much because it was very interesting to know what students were doing after graduating. I also got some information on what to do when I graduate. It was a valuable time for me to get to know the students. Moreover, I learned a lot from them because most of them were very welcoming and willing to share information when they found out that the phone calls were from their old school.

I am currently working as an assistant teacher in an academy, but I want to talk about my future dream part-time job that I think will be very memorable. I have always wanted to work in a café since I really like café drinks. My favorite drink is ‘a-shot-chu.’ A-shotchu is a Korean abbreviation for iced tea with a coffee shot. I am pretty sure most people know the drink since it was and still is very popular. You put an espresso shot into a peach flavored iced tea and that is an a-shot-chu. I know that merely pondering my dream parttime job and the reality I am faced with will be different but still, I hope I can work at a café one day.
