The 2023 Super-wide GPT-AI Startup Competition was held at Eulji Unique Factory in Jung-gu, Seoul for two days from November 10 to 11. The competition, themed “Proposing Ideas for Solving Korean Social Problems,” saw participants presenting ideas ranging from planning to building business models, deriving development processes, and its expected effects using artificial intelligence. The research was conducted based on Microsoft’s New-Bing and a business plan was prepared using ChatGPT. Kim Seo-hyun, a Department of Artificial Intelligence student at Hanyang University ERICA Campus won the grand prize.

Q. For readers unfamiliar with the competition, could you briefly explain its purpose and process?
A.
The competition aimed to develop business plans for startup items addressing social issues. The evaluation criteria included the quality of the business plans and GPT utilization skills for problem definition, market research, and business plan preparation. Winners were selected with the top two winners receiving invitations to Microsoft’s headquarters in Seattle, USA.

Q. At the competition, you proposed a ‘Career UP’ service for young job seekers. Please briefly introduce the service.
A.
‘Career UP’ is a service tailored for job seekers who are having difficulty obtaining a job using the Generative AI LLM model. It offers functions such as SWOT analysis and feedback, creation and revision of self-introduction, interview questions based on cover letters and resumes, and example answer recommendations. I asked ‘Bing Chat’ to list social issues in Korea by using the role-playing technique, and the youth unemployment problem ranked fourth. Using GPT was one of the evaluation factors, which was why this item was chosen.

Q. What challenges did you encounter while preparing for the competition?
A.
Balancing the excellence of the business plan and effective GPT utilization proved challenging during preparation. Typically, competitions have one topic, either the ability to use GPT well or the start-up itself. Therefore, all I need to do is just focus on a single topic. However, this competition required proficiency in both areas simultaneously, making presentation preparation difficult.

Q. Do you have any ongoing or future projects you would like to share?
A.
Currently, I am the CEO of ‘Singularity’, a company based on Generative AI. There are three Hyper Notes, five Hyper Diaries, four Hyper Books, and two Hyper Chats, three B2Cs and one B2B. All of them are based on Generative AI. Reflecting on my experience in this competition, I believe it serves as a solid foundation for expanding my business further on.
