Hanyang University (HYU) Startup Support Foundation has launched “247 Startup Dorm” by remodeling the fifth floor of the Student Residence Hall #1. Its first recruitment session was from January 25 to February 7, 2018.

“This is the very first time that 247 Startup Dorm operated, and it will have students annually. The next recruitment period would be around the same time early next year,” said Jo Sung-un of HYU Startup Support Foundation. “If there is any vacancy during the program, there would be sudden recruitments,” added Jo Sung-un.

College student founders often fail to advance their business to the next level due to lack of money, space constraints, and lack of experience, even though they have good ideas and business items. 247 Startup Dorm will help these college student founders by providing them free dormitories for one year, startup scholarship, a 24 hour coworking space, and startup mentoring and education. The mentor group consists of professors and alumni from each field of business, and the coworking space for entrepreneurship includes equipment such as a beam projector and screen.

Participants of the 247 Startup Dorm program are students and graduate students who are planning to start a business. It also allows early founders and foreign students to participate. Selection will be made through document screening and interviews. More details can be found in the Startup Lounge homepage.
