"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, to draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of ‘Life’.” This famous quote from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty encourages us to get on our feet and begin an adventure. Unfortunately, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it seems difficult to start a new chapter of life. Things we took for granted have become rather special. Breathing in fresh air and walking to a nearby café to enjoy the company of a friend cannot be done without wearing masks. Thankfully, our society is beginning to adjust to the given moment by carrying out online classes and keeping contact with one another through social media. The media reports that it is unlikely that our world before COVID-19 will be back completely, even when the pandemic is declared to be over. In fact, sources predict that there will be different virus outbreaks that we have to be even more aware of in the future. Currently, we seem to be living in a transitory time period into what the future is going to be like. However, living life to the fullest and exploring your purpose can still be done right in your pajamas. Don’t be hesitant because of external forces. Whether you are putting in an effort or not is what counts. Even during hard times, The Hanyang Journal’s reporters tried their best to publish yet another edition. Creating an outlet for students to connect with the university is an important job for the school’s press. Writing articles that voice students’ opinions and interest is a responsibility that the university’s press team should hold. As we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Hanyang Journal, I wish more students would read our articles and become inspired by them. Our readers are the foundation of our articles. Readers are able to relive the reporters’ carefully written words and sentences by reading them. Closing my career as the Editor-in-Chief, I would like to give my best regards to The Hanyang Journal and its readers. Don’t ever feel the situation is weighing you down from finding your purpose in life.
