Hanyang University (HYU)’s School of Business alumni association was established on November 29th, 2008. The celebration was held at SKT hall of the seventh floor of School of Business.

The School of Business had not have an alumni association since 1959 when the school was established. For about 50 years, the School of Business have achieved a lot of development and become one of the best business schools in Korea. According to Hankyung Business’s study, HYU School of Business became the fifth best business school in Korea. The new building and higher score of entrance exam needed to enter the school, increasing the number of students who became certified public accountants, increasing the number of research papers of business administration’s professors and a lot of awards the school has received prove it.

However, it is important to have an alumni association in Korea. When people value university, they consider what their alumni associations are doing. Also, many alumni of the School of Business meet together frequently even though the school had not have an official alumni association. These are the reasons why alumni of school of business got together and began School of Business Alumni Association.

Alumni of School of Business made the slogan “Return of the Lion King” to wake up powerful HYU School of Business who was sleeping. Yoo Bong-hwan, the representative of HYU School of Business Alumni Association, who entered School of Business in 1974, said “If you are a graduate of HYU School of Business, you are always welcome in our association.” Also, he added “We are planning to include alumni of HYU Graduate School of Business administration in our new alumni association.” Baek Nam-chun who entered School of Business in 1967 is going to be the first president of the Alumni Association.
