On December 6, 2023, the first “Hanyang Film Festival” took place at the Academic Information Center. The Hanyang Film Festival is a program where students collaborate in teams to produce videos, sharing and watching each other’s creations to enhance critical thinking skills and nurture creativity. A total of 27 teams, comprising 73 participants, applied for the first Hanyang Film Festival, with 11 teams emerging as winners. The grand prize was bestowed upon Team Quinceañera, named after the “festival of the little girl.” Other accolades included the Excellence prize (1 team), Audience prize (1 team), and Encouragement prize (7 teams).
A staff member from the Academic Information Team said, “The Hanyang Film Festival holds immense significance for our students. It provides a platform for showcasing the creativity and talent of budding filmmakers within the university community. This opportunity not only allows students to express themselves artistically but also fosters a sense of pride and accomplishment in their work. Additionally, our team believes that the festival exposes participants diverse cinematic styles and genres, broadening students’ horizons and inspiring them to explore new avenues within the realm of filmmaking.” By bringing together students, faculty, and film enthusiasts, the festival cultivates a sense of community and fosters meaningful connections that extend beyond the event itself. Ultimately, the Hanyang Film Festival aims to catalyze artistic expression, cultural exchange, and personal growth, enriching the academic experience and leaving a lasting impact on the university’s creative landscape.
The staff concluded, “I believe that the festival holds great significance for students as a platform showcasing talent, inspiring creativity, and fostering a sense of community among aspiring filmmakers.
