“I believe that one of life’s greatest risks is never daring to risk.” It is not too much to say this inspirational quote from Oprah Winfrey changed my attitude towards life. As a college senior, I found out that the key to college life is that you have to get through everything yourself. Instead of submissively following a set curriculum, you should find and do things that you truly enjoy. I have tried to participate in a variety of activities to broaden my horizons during my college life. In my freshman year, I played like there was no tomorrow, joining the cocktail club and made new friends. I have been in a lot of relationships that led me to be more mentally mature as well. After I worked as a student reporter for the Hanyang Journal, I had a dream to become a journalist. The Hanyang Journal motivated me to dramatically improve my grades and experiences here enabled me write articles as an intern reporter for the Korea Joongang Daily with my own byline. In that sense, it was a cornerstone not only in my college life but also in setting my future career. I still have a long way to go, but looking back, I think my college life was successful overall. People wonder how I am so good at passing activities and ask me for tips. There is only one secret: it is to try without fear of failure.

In the process, you may face daunting challenges such as poor timing, lack of opportunities, or worries. If you try to take every single thing into consideration, you might not accomplish anything. Sometimes you do not even dare start with it. In order to get the result you want, we all know that you just have to put your thoughts into action. What on earth hinders our passion to practice? It is usually the fear of failure and mistakes. The fear also makes it impossible for us to even try. It is natural that you worry about being shamed if you fail after applying certain activities, but sometimes, you need to be easy on yourselves. Failure is not the opposite of success. Rather, it is part of success. Robert F. Kennedy once said, “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” It is better to do and regret than not to do. Stop delaying what you should do, or what you want to do. This applies in the same way as when you are dealing with people. Do not be afraid of talking to people whether to make a friend or to meet a match. With all things you try, even if they do not work out the first time, they might work out someday!
