Hanyang International Summer School (HISS), which was operated only for foreign students last year due to COVID-19, has returned as a full offline program including Korean students of Hanyang University (HYU). HISS is a summer program where foreign students and local Korean students can take courses at HYU and experience unique cultural activities together.

This year, HISS takes place from July 6 to 27, for a total of four weeks. The main course consists of English-only lectures provided by HYUʼs instructors, including basic majors such as Calculus, Engineering Mathematics, and General Physics, as well as sports and Korean studies like Taekwondo, K-pop Dance, and Introductory Korean.

In addition to the regular courses, there are overnight activities and one-day tour packages to visit cities throughout Korea, including Busan, Jeonju, Sokcho, and Boryeong. This time, 100 Korean students will also get the opportunity to go to Boryeong on a first-come, firstserved basis.

Choi Su-in, a coordinator of HISS said, “HYU operates one of the biggest international school programs compared to other universities.” At HISS, foreign students can enjoy a world-class education and make Korean friends in their daily lives. At the same time, Korean students can take classes in English and interact with foreign students as if they were attending a foreign school. In addition, Korean students can earn credits in a full absolute evaluation. “I think it is such a great opportunity for the students of our university. I hope the program will contribute to HYU students’ globalization,” Choi Su-in said.

Application for Korean students is twice from May 1 to 4 and June 8 to 9. Students of Erica Campus can participate as well. Learn more at hanyangsummer.com.
